Overview
This opening section presents the main context from the original post.
We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of founding partner, James Kenneth (Ken) Walker. Bowers & Co., LLP was founded in 1976 by Ken and Andrew Sciarabba.
The two foresaw the Ithaca region was poised for economic growth that would require the resources of a large CPA firm, as well as local knowledge and service.
“Ken was a leader in every way. He was kind, inquisitive, clever, loved a good conversation, and profoundly committed to his family,” said Bowers Managing Partner Dave Iles. “He comfortably moved us out of our comfort zones.”
Ken was a pillar of our community working with the Board of Public Works, Ithaca Sunrise Rotary Club, Common Council, Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, and served as the managing director of Ithaca Gun, Co. His community involvement continues to serve as an inspiration for the firm to this day.
Ken’s family will hold a celebration of his life in the warmer months of 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Ken’s name to ‘Save the River’. His obituary is available here.
