The Board of Directors of the District 8 Little League
Foundation is proud to announce Patrick Driscoll, Commissioner
of Parks and Recreation for the City of Syracuse, as their 2007
Distinguished Award recipient.
Patrick Driscoll, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation
for the City of Syracuse and West End PBA Little League
volunteer coach, will be
presented
with the 2007 Distinguished Service Award by the District 8
Little League Foundation at the 2nd Annual Diamond Dinner
scheduled for May 10th at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Convention
Center in Liverpool, New York.
The District 8 Little League Foundation selected
Driscoll as the award recipient based on his past four years of
contributions to the children of Central New York and the City
of Syracuse. Mike D’Avirro, managing partner of Bowers &
Company, CPAs, the major sponsor of the event and District 8
Little League Foundation member states, “We chose Patrick
Driscoll for this year’s award because of his positive impact on
the youth of Central New York. Driscoll has worked closely with
Mayor Matt Driscoll, city administrators and other elected
officials to bolster opportunities for city youth related to
recreation, youth sports and improvements to the facilities on
which they play.” D’Avirro continues, “Driscoll’s commitment to
upgrade the looks, safety and conduct codes of the city
playgrounds were contributing factors in awarding him this
honor.”
Proceeds from this year’s Diamond Dinner will provide
grants for field, safety and equipment improvements throughout
the District 8 Little League. Approximately $30,000 in grant
money was awarded from last year’s first annual Diamond Dinner
event.
